as a matter of fact, i'll be spending one semester abroad in about one year from now. since i haven't yet decided if i want to go to paris or milan, my dad suggested i take a look at the city to help make my decision. and i can tell you, the trip didn't make that decision any easier.
first of all, there's the dome or as the italians call it 'duomo'. it's more impressive than you could ever imagine. right next to it you'll find the galleria vittorio emanuele II, which will once again blow your mind. make sure to have a drink at the campari bar there (just order your drinks and have them at the bar itself, it only costs half of what you'd pay if you sat down at one of their tables).
one more thing to visit is the excelsior department store (and not only because they have a ladurée shop). it's probably the most modernish department store in the whole of europe. plus, they have a ladurée shop. damn, already mentioned that. i am sensing some sort of obsession here.
anyway. once you've indulged in some sweet treats and awesome designer fashion & jewelry, make sure to walk down via monte napoleone and via della spiga. trust me, you've never seen so many high-end designer stores in one place. i think i stopped counting dolce & gabbana stores when we walked past the fifth. if you're thirsty, check out the martini bar there - the atmosphere is as relaxed and smooth as it gets.
if you're too lazy to do all that walking, just take a tour inside the rinascente. they have 7 floors stocked with everything your fashionable heart is beating for. oh and make sure to have lunch at the 7th floor there - the paninis are to die for!
one more thing before i finally shut up: keep your eyes open for any temporary designer sale pop-up stores. no matter how trashy they look from outside, there are real treasures waiting inside (like dior trenchcoats and balmain & dsquared jeans at amazing prices)

als fester bestandteil meines studiums steht im 4. semester ein halbes jahr ausland auf dem programm. und da ich mich bis jetzt noch nicht zwischen mailand und paris entscheiden konnte, kam mein dad auf die idee, dass ich mir mailand doch erstmal anschauen sollte bevor ich überhaupt über eine entscheidung nachdenke. also haben wir unsere 7 sachen gepackt und sind durch die schweiz nach italien gerast. und ich kann jetzt schon sagen, dass der trip meine entscheidung nicht wirklich einfach gemacht hat.
zuallererst hat mailand natürlich den dom oder duomo. der ist wirklich noch viel eindrucksvoller als man sich das vorstellen kann. direkt daneben ist die galleria vittorio emanuele II, mindestens genau so schön und leider auch ständig am renoviert werden. ein muss da ist die campari bar. wenn man die drinks drinnen bestellt und direkt an der bar trinkt kostet's nur die hälfte und die leckeren snacks gibt's gratis.
nächster stop ist dann das excelsior. kaufhaus beschreibt's eher schlecht, denn dafür ist das haus echt zu hightech-modern-stylisch. oh, und es gibt einen ladurée shop. was kann man da noch hinzufügen..
anyway, wenn man sich dann an macarons überfressen hat, geht's weiter auf die via monte napoleone und die via della spiga. da herrscht akuter high-end designer überschuss. ich glaube, ich habe bei 5 aufgehört, die dolce & gabbana stores zu zählen. bei spontanem durst kann ich die martini bar empfehlen - die atmosphäre ist entspannter als ein wellnessurlaub.
wer dezent fußkrank ist, kann alle designer auch kompakt auf den 7 etagen des rinascente finden. wenn's geht im 7. stock ein panini probieren, die sind unglaublich lecker!
so und jetzt noch ganz kurz, dann bin ich fertig: unbedingt die augen nach pop-up designer sale stores offenhalten. sehen von außen echt nach ramsch aus aber drinnen findet man wirklich schätze (wie dior trenchcoats oder balmain & dsquared jeans zu echt erschwinglichen preisen)

if you're looking for a little venice feeling, just visit the area around naviglio grande - it's an ancient channel where today you can find little independent stores selling all sorts of stuff. plus, there's a wiiiiiide range of bars & restaurants // für alle venedig-liebhaber empfiehlt sich ein abstecher in die gegend um den naviglio grande - ein alter kanal an dem sich allerlei kleine läden, bars und restaurants angesiedelt haben
